Storing your Images {Lethbridge Wedding and Family Photography}

Time passes, whether we like it or not. Kids grow up, family changes, and digital media also gets old or changes to new mediums. We don't want to lose our photos. Our photos are representations of our life itself, our memories, our legacy.

Do you remember when you were younger, maybe going through photo albums of your parents or grandparents? Those photo albums tell stories.  We used to have floppy discs (yes, I'm older), compact discs, and hard-drives to store our images. Now we usually store imagery online where we can share images easily.

In the age of digital, being mindful and managing your digital files is also necessary. Not so many years ago, there was CD storage. Now it would be difficult to find a device to read CDs. Hard drives still exist, but they also fail. If your images are stored online, make sure someone has the password, or access to the folders and continues to pay the subscription fee so the images don't end with you.

Printing pictures is a great way to know the next generation will be able to see them and access them. The photography industry advocates for printed pictures to help the stories last through generations.

This is a picture of my youngest son.  Here he was around 5, now he's 20. Kids grow so fast. He was recently pouring through his scrapbooks I made him when he was little and we were having a bonding moment of remembering the good times we had.  That is priceless.  Imagine if those images were lost, or were sitting on a hard-drive.  That moment would not have happened.

It's a good idea to regularly print images and keep them in physical albums, blog books, yearly books, or other physical memorabilia of some kind. It is so important to your legacy.
